Recent news from the world of pro wrestling has been filled with Tony Khan and AEW. Despite getting bumped by the EVPs, the Young Bucks, this isn’t why he’s making headlines. The son of Shad Khan and his company have been making the rounds for the low rating the show’s been receiving. While this is normal for any promotion, AEW has constantly received low ratings. This isn’t great news with their Las Vegas PPV Double or Nothing just weeks away.

Tony Khan’s AEW and the rating system seem to have a hate relationship, with the ratings not liking his show. What is happening with the company with declining viewership and attendance at Collion and Rampage? While this could have been a one-off, since the start of 2024, AEW’s rating and viewership have been on a slippery slope.

Despite industry legends like Eric Bischoff, Jim Cornette, and Dave Meltzer pleading to Khan to change his business ideas, AEW is still in hot water. The ratings for AEW’s Dynamite episode were released recently, and it’s been the worst since 2021. Fans and critics of the promotion have posted the stats on social media, which are 672,000.

The company’s previous lowest was 711,000 the week before. Naturally, with numbers to back him up, Meltzer had to comment on this via social media.

Dave Meltzer claims the AEW numbers are not getting any better

Meltzer said, “AEW numbers not good, even with the playoff competition, 672K/0.23, sixth behind only NBA & NHL.” With big names like Mercedes Mone, Kazuchika Okada, Adam Copeland, etc., fans expected AEW to do better in rating and viewership numbers.

Unfortunately, since her debut in March at Big Business, Mone has not had her in-ring wrestling debut. Despite donning the moniker of CEO and having a ton of fanfare, WWE’s former Women’s Champ has failed to make an impact. Even Bryan Danielson, who has put on stellar matches for the company, has been unable to draw fans in. However, it may not be the wrestlers who are responsible for the low number.

On many podcasts and interviews, many wrestling legends have cited Khan’s handling of the company as the reason for the low rating. AEW’s peak recently was when they aired the backstage footage from AEW All In 2023 featuring CM Punk. Fans wanted to know what happened that resulted in Punk’s termination and dropped off once the footage aired. What do you think? Is Khan on the right path? Will AEW improve its rating before Double or Nothing? Tell us in the comments.
