Fans, experts, and critics love comparing wrestlers in the industry, especially from different promotions. While Cody Rhodes is among the biggest names in the wrestling business, even he isn’t spared from this comparison. Dave Meltzer claims Will Ospreay is better than Cody Rhodes in every way
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer made a name for himself thanks to his journalistic background in wrestling. His rating for matches in the wrestling industry has become a mainstay and a mark of a great wrestler. Among the people who have received the honor of the elusive 5-star rating is Will Ospreay. Meltzer explained why Ospreay was better in many ways than Rhodes on his radio show. Starting it off Meltzer said, “But he is the most talented wrestler in the world, and it was a miss by WWE not getting him.” There were talks between Ospreay and the WWE while he was a free agent, but as seen recently, Tony Khan and AEW provided a better offer.

Meltzer explained how Ospreay had better charisma than Rhodes. He gave examples of the former NJPW star’s work with Kenny Omega and Michael Oku. Ending with his most recent promo on AEW Dynamite, Meltzer claimed that Ospreay was that guy who could carry a company. Meltzer did add, “I’m not saying he would surpass Cody, but in time, he probably would just because he’s 30 and Cody’s 38.” Following this, he also said that the AEW star was on his way up while Rhodes was already there.

Meltzer continued, “In the ring, he’s much better than Cody. Cody’s fantastic as a character, and his story, he really made the story work.” Following this, he claimed that Ospreay could do the Rhodes finish the story angle in AEW. However, he said that AEW didn’t have a Roman Reigns-level opponent. Despite this, according to Meltzer, the angle was a possibility in AEW. The current Royal Rumble winner reached new heights in his feud with Reigns thanks to the involvement of Dwayne Johnson. What do you think about Rhodes not being as good as Ospreay?
