CM Punk is not only a big draw, but even one of the most controversial figures in the wrestling industry. The Best in the World has not been seen around the squared circle for quite a while now. Tony Khan and crew are reportedly looking to make every effort to get him back to their promotion. But is that decision sitting well with the rest of the locker room?

CM Punk has been absent from AEW programming since AEW All Out 2022. The Second City Saint was involved in a real-life physical altercation with Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks post-media-scrum. This even led to only Ace Steel being fired as well for his involvement. While the latter trio returned to AEW in November, Punk is yet to come back, potentially reworking his relationship with the company and recuperating from injuries.
Despite the company’s denial, it was also reported that Ace Steel had been re-hired by the company, but refused to come to the television programming. This reportedly led to CM Punk backing out of a new deal by AEW. Furthermore, the current confirmed status of the former AEW champion is still up in the air.
However, it seems that his actions at the All Out event have left a deep impression on the current AEW talent roster. This was explained in detail by wrestling journalist, Dave Meltzer during the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio. He elaborated that the AEW roster still does not understand why the promotion is willing to give CM Punk a second chance.
“He’s a draw. You know, the big picture money is there, so I understand the attempt. I know a lot of talent did not, or didn’t or just felt that it shouldn’t have happened, what happened should disqualify him.”
Meltzer even stated that Punk’s return could create further issues within the internal locker room of All Elite.
Where can CM Punk potentially appear next?
Regardless of the talent’s opinion, AEW are reportedly working their way to bring back, perhaps their biggest draw in CM Punk on television. According to multiple reports, the Voice of the Voiceless could potentially appear as a huge surprise on AEW’s new show, Collision. The show is set to premiere on June 17 on the TNT network. It is scheduled to take place in Punk’s hometown of Chicago, Illinois at the United Center.
Moreover, reports also stated that Tony Khan has put his best foot forward to have CM Punk return to AEW. This belief gets cemented as Khan thinks of Punk to be a huge money maker for the underdog promotion.
If CM Punk does make his grand resurgence at AEW Collision, will that affect the current state of the locker room?
