The first Dynamite episode after AEW Dynasty left fans in shock due to the breathtaking turn of events that transpired. The Elite arrived at Daily’s Place, and what looked like a typical segment with CEO Tony Khan tuned into something fans could’ve never expected. In a move that many would compare to the likes of Vince McMahon, Khan is now part of The Elite’s storyline and the AEW product.
No longer just the face or head of the company, the AEW head honcho incurred a severe beatdown in the ring in this episode of Dynamite. This effectively changes his role, and Khan is now a character on the show.

On his podcast Fightful Wrestling With Sean Ross Sapp, the host sat down with Alex Palowski and Jon Alba to review the latest episode of AEW Dynamite. Alba revealed something interesting about the hottest topic, the Khan beatdown. He claimed that after the episode; he was getting messages from wrestlers, and everyone seemed to say the same thing. Alba said, “All the sentiments seem to be that Tony finally accepted he’s a character on the show.”

This led to Sapp commenting, “He gets as much heat, if not, not as much. He gets more heat than anybody on his show.” This isn’t a wrong statement, as the Fulham soccer club owner has received vitriol online for his outrageous posts. Whether he’s after the WWE or commenting on things he should not be a part of, Khan gets more heat than the biggest heels in AEW.
This works great now that Khan has inserted himself into the show as a character and not as the CEO. However, fans and experts spotted the similarities between Khan and Vince McMahon’s traits in the trajectory of their characters.

The McMahon heel turn was one of the most talked about and iconic moments that led to the start of the Attitude Era. Before this, McMahon only dabbled in the role of a commentator. However, pushing himself as the big bad, Mr. McMahon’s character boosted the WWE’s ratings. His legendary rivalries with revered superstars such as Bret Hart, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H, etc is a testament to the success he garnered by donning a new role.
Not only did this move revitalize the company, but it also made McMahon the biggest heel in the business.
