Is MJF the new Rock, or is he just riding on the coattails of legends?

MJF has specialized in the art of making people either love or loathe him. He has made a severe impact on the wrestling industry thanks to his charm on the mic. He is currently the AEW American Champion and was seen on the recent AEW Dynamite episode cutting a promo. In this segment, he roasted the crowd by taking a page from The Great One’s book.

On the most recent Dynamite episode, MJF called out his opponent Will Ospreay against whom he will defend his championship soon. In the promo, he discussed the USA and the importance of the AEW American Championship. He chastised Ospreay and other British stars for their ignorance. Furthermore, in trademark heel fashion, he took digs at the residents of South Carolina, where the event was held.

The Salt of the Earth began to refer to the city as the Trailer Park Trash Capital of the United States and even believed that it was not worth talking about much. This phrase received a lot of criticism from fans since it was entirely incorrect. Although all the fans hated this comment, some did not notice the plug-in that MJF had put in his promo.

This is about The Rock, who uses this remark in several of his promos. The Final Boss has always been the finest on the mic. The Hollywood star has given us many classic catchphrases, one of which is Trailer Park Trash. It was surprising for AEW to incorporate references and links from other iconic wrestlers and put them on some of their excellent mic-skilled performers, like MJF. But this was not the first time MJF made a WWE reference.

MJF has made numerous WWE references since his return to AEW

Every single wrestling fan was taken aback when The Salt of the Earth made his comeback to AEW on AEW Double or Nothing 2024. The major highlight of MJF’s homecoming was his outfit, which included a denim leather jacket that fans recognized. This jacket had an eye-catching similarity to Triple H’s outfit that he wore when he returned in 2002.

Not only that, the former AEW World champion also made several additional references upon his return. These allusions included saying Vince McMahon on live television, copying other superstars’ clothing styles, and now promotional catchphrases.
