MJF has been sidelined from All Elite Wrestling programming since late last year. After losing the company’s World Championship at Worlds End in late December, the AEW star stepped away from the weekly schedule to recover from several injuries he sustained during the year as champion. Including a torn labrum that he has tried to heal by alternative means, such as regenerative medicine, to avoid going under the knife.

Although there was no exact date for his return, the intention was that he could return in a matter of three or four months, but unfortunately, that will not be the case. As the AEW superstar had to undergo surgery.

Earlier, Jason Salomon reported that the therapy MJF was undergoing for his recovery has not worked and he has to undergo surgery for his left shoulder, which rules out a return in the short term. WrestlePurists has confirmed this information and added that MJF had met with Tony Khan in Boston intending to return in March, but the situation has changed with this operation and there is no date yet for his return. In addition, this has caused the creative plans of the feud between MJF and the Undisputed Kingdom to change radically.

At the moment, it is unknown how long the fighter will require to recover optimally, although the estimated figures for these types of injuries range between three and six months. Nevertheless, that’s not the only uncertainty that hangs over MJF’s future. The former AEW World champion’s contract is set to end soon and no positive updates have come to light on the topic.

MJF was one of the top wrestlers in All Elite Wrestling during 2022 and 2023. However, his future at the company remains muddied. Even though many media outlets assume that MJF and AEW reached a renewal agreement, both parties continue to play with the possibility of a departure to maintain the interest of fans. In this sense, we should remember that the company removed MJF’s profile from the official website of its roster.

MJF was one of the lead wrestlers on the AEW roster back in 2023. After winning the company’s World Championship, the wrestler began one of the best storylines as per fans. MJF teamed up with Adam Cole, starring in marquee segments and even conquering the ROH World Tag Team Titles. However, Cole’s injury forced some plans to change, culminating in the storyline of “The Devil” and MJF’s loss at AEW Worlds End. So what do you think? What will the AEW creatives cook once MJF returns? Let us know in the comments.
