Despite standing tall in the squared circle, MJF has never been out of controversy for his comments and deeds. The 27-year-old has recently come off a successful defense of the AEW World Championship at Double or Nothing. Day after, the reigning champion again made it to headlines, making a berating comment on NPJW.
Double or Nothing is now history. The next stop for the Jacksonville-based promotion is the second AEW x NPJW Forbidden Door crossover show on June 25. But it seems like the show will probably go on air without the company’s bad boy taking part in it.

A series of renowned superstars gear up for the upcoming Forbidden Door from both AEW and NJPW. But MJF is certainly not one of them. It’s because he possessed a very derogatory image of the New Japan Pro Wrestling. During the post-show press conference of AEW Double or Nothing, he was asked about his next show, specifically his potential appearance during the company’s next cross-promotional event. In reply, Friedman put his opinion blandly and stated the fact straight without whitewashing his words even a bit.
He noted,
“Do I have to wrestle at the Forbidden Door? F**k that. It’s a f*****g Indie fed. With all due respect, their greatest legend probably couldn’t lace my boots. I think I would make anybody on that roster look silly, and I don’t want to waste my time. I’m a very busy man. I think New Japan Pro-Wrestling sucks.”However, despite taking shots at the Japanese promotion, the current AEW World Champion has affinity over one particular wrestler of NPJW and he’s none other than Great O Khan.
‘‘Except that Great-O-Khan guy, he pops me. I like him. Everybody else there is the drizzling s**ts. It reminds me of a local Indie fed.”, the AEW man continued taking digs.
However, do you know what MJF thinks about WWE, the biggest rival of his current promotion?
MJF addressed his WWE joining rumor
MJF has achieved impressive feats at a very young age compared to many big stars on the roster. It seems like he may even look for a change of scenery. There was huge speculation regarding MJF coming to WWE after he said that he could take his ball and go home.

But unfortunately, the young chap shows no interest in WWE either while addressing the rival company’s interest in him during the post-show press conference. When he said to leave, he hinted at retirement and not shifting his promotion.
He also seems very confident (more in a cocky way) that there’s nobody in any promotion in the world who can beat him at this point, so there is no potential challenge in front of him to keep him interested in the game.
Now, we need to see will any NJPW star step up to MJF after his comments on the renowned Japanese wrestling promotion.
