Is MJF just a copycat, or is he bringing something new to the wrestling scene?

MJF continues to consolidate his dominance in the world of professional wrestling. After embracing his role as a villain earlier in the year, he has been unstoppable. Culminating in his recent AEW International Championship victory over Will Ospreay about two weeks ago.

However, MJF has decided to make one major change: he has introduced the AEW American Championship. He discarded the previous AEW International Championship title. The former AEW World champion did it all after declaring that he considers himself a true American hero in contrast to Will Ospreay. To get perfectly into the character, MJF recently added a new piece to his wardrobe. Rather than going all bare body with a Burberry scarf, MJF has added a new jacket as a part of the gimmick.

A red jacket with eagles and stages all around. But if you feel you have already seen him wear the jacket, sorry, but that’s just a Mandela effect. However, you won’t be completely wrong though. Since the same jacket was worn in a different promotion. Instead of the prominent AEW star, a different superstar first claimed to the look. It seems like MJF has stolen it from WWE NXT’s Tank Ledger.

The other half of the tag duo with Hank Walker, Ledger, wore the same jacket long before MJF featured it in All Elite Wrestling. While MJF thought that the pro wrestling universe could not notice it, it seems like he was wrong. A user named @Cigano300 was quick to share the pictures on X.

This isn’t the first time that the Devil has been accused of stealing ring gear. Many fans also called him out when he wore a jacket exactly similar to the one worn by Triple H back in 2002. There were also accusations of MJF stealing the layout/design of The Rock‘s 2001 Just Bring It USA-themed shirt for his Better Than You shirt. Well, that’s not very American-like. But would he be able to continue his patriotic act after his recent attacks on British wrestlers?

Is MJF just a copycat, or is he bringing something new to the wrestling scene?

Have an interesting take?

In a recent video posted by Revolution Pro Wrestling on X, MJF did not hold back from attacking British wrestlers and Britain in general. Focusing particularly on Michael Oku, the reigning Rev Pro champion. MJF called out Oku and highlighted his friendship with Ospreay. He even went as far as calling him “the scum of the earth.” MJF and Oku’s confrontation will take place on August 11 at RevPro’s Summer Sizzle. The event will be held at York Hall in Bethnal Green, London.

This matchup will be an important test for the newly crowned AEW American Champion. Prior to this highly anticipated match, MJF will also defend his title against Templario at CMLL’s Viernes Espectacular event on August 2. With these commitments on his agenda, MJF promises to stay in the spotlight and deliver exciting matches in the coming months. What do you think? Will MJF be able to back his words with his brawn?
