Mercedes Mone is on top of the moon right now since she has won the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship and is now a double champion, having previously held the AEW TBS Championship. She has been in amazing shape since the beginning of her AEW stint, albeit it appears that she was not at her peak performance during the AEW’s Forbidden Door pay-per-view.

The AEW star took a lot of time to get going as she didn’t wrestle in the promotion immediately after her debut. And when she did get going, it didn’t always amount to a pretty sight. Fans began speculating on this scenario since numerous mistakes were made throughout the match, leading some to declare it the worst of the evening. This even prompted the wrestling community to vent about the match online.

The fact that Mone has received a massive push in the AEW so far angered the fans. They think Sasha Banks was a far greater character than this, thus they didn’t take kindly to the new role she’s playing. Especially when Mercedes Mone is involved in a match that’s riddled with mistakes. Mone’s matches and segments often contain botches and the Forbidden Door match was no exception. Because the current AEW TBS champion has creative power, many believe that she is merely pushing herself too far because they witnessed numerous mistakes made by her throughout the match.

This user complained about the quality of the matches as it didn’t amount to much entertainment. The number of botches on display only etched it as a horrendous match rather than a boring generic matchup. The outcome of the match didn’t help Mone’s case as she has clinched two championships despite arguably not warranting it.

Some fans have even gone so far as to call the match awful since there were several instances in which they botched spots, many moves were there that were not executed, and even numerous mistakes in the ending. They think that Mercedes Mone’s attempt to become a double champion would fail and that Stephanie Vaquer was a better deserving winner.

Furthermore, some fans even think that AEW lacks strong prospective champions in the women’s division and if they continue to book their division in this manner in the future, the case will only get worse. Many issues have been expressed over the women’s division booking in the AEW in the past and it seems that similar complaints will continue to happen shortly too. This match was especially labeled for its sub-par quality due to its lackluster finishing sequence.
