Matt Hardy made the move in 2020, followed by Jeff Hardy in 2022 to reunite with his brother. With a career spanning decades and multiple companies, Matt Hardy has achieved significant success. 

However, as his contract is set to expire this month, there is speculation about his future with AEW. Despite departure rumors, Matt Hardy remains appreciative of AEW fans and brushed past the speculation with gratitude.

Matt Hardy acknowledges his fans through a heartfelt message

Matt Hardy shared a heartfelt message on his social media account. He was seen reflecting on an emotional moment in his AEW career amid reports of his contract nearing its end this month.

Taking to Twitter, Matt Hardy reposted a clip from 2020 where he addressed an injury suffered during All Out that year. He expressed gratitude for the crowd’s support during that challenging time and acknowledged their ongoing support throughout his journey.

Recently, Fightful reported that Hardy’s contract with AEW would expire this month, having been with the company since 2020. They also disclosed that Jeff had a similar contract but with more time due to injury-related extensions.

Matt Hardy speaks about his AEW contract

Matt Hardy, with a long career spanning multiple companies, faces uncertainty as his contract with AEW is set to expire this month. Joining AEW in March 2020, there was an expectation that his contract would align with his brother Jeff’s, but various factors led to an extension. Confirmed on his Extreme Life podcast, Hardy acknowledged that his contract will indeed expire in March.

“Obviously, I got (messages) after that news broke earlier today, and it didn’t come from me because no one had known anything about it. So once again, Sean Ross Sapp breaking the news. Yes, it is coming up in March,” he said. While he expressed uncertainty about the future, he welcomed feedback from listeners on his next steps. He also added, “And we’ve spoken about it and we’ve talked about it and I guess we’ll see what happens. So we’ll see.” Matt Hardy remains supportive of the promotions he works with, comparing his experiences to athletes changing teams. 

 

He also added, ”Business is business. Sometimes things change, you never know. I love AEW, I’m cool with staying with AEW, and I really enjoy the locker room there. I enjoy being there, but if that’s not what happens and that’s not what happens, life goes on.” While enjoying his time at AEW and valuing relationships with figures like The Bucks and Tony Khan, Hardy remains open to new opportunities.
