AEW is going to go all out with all guns blazing when its newest televised show Collision debuts tonight. Wrestling fans are eagerly awaiting to see how this show can help showcase the talent AEW possesses in its ranks.

Tony Khan, CEO of AEW announced on Twitter that the commentary team for Collision will comprise Ex WWE commentator and Hall Of Famer Jim Ross. He will be joined on commentary by  Nigel McGuinness and Kevin Kelly. Moreover, the show will see the big return of CM Punk and some other standout matches. But as AEW is preparing for its big launch tonight, WWE set an all-time record that was no less than a war horn for the four-year-old wrestling promotion.

AEW’s collision is going to be held at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois which has a capacity of 23,500. Many tickets to the AEW event are still available suggesting a low turnout for Saturday’s show.

But last night’s SmackDown, which was held at the Rupp Arena in Lexington, shattered records in the wrestling industry. Acclaimed wrestling reporter  Dave Meltzer tweeted the same just hours after the show. He wrote, “Tonight’s WWE event set the all-time record gross for the market.”

The Rupp Arena has a capacity of 23,500 and going by his tweet, seems like the event was a full house. It’s no surprise it was a packed house as the WWE Universe was eager to know Jey Uso’s decision. And by the end of the night, after kicking The Tribal Chief right in his face, we all knew that he was DEFINITELY OUT!

AEW may have been keeping a close watch on the turnout and now possibly has to go back to the drawing board.

AEW is banking on the return of CM Punk

AEW’s star CM Punk has been out of action for the last 9 months. The last time he was seen in the ring was at AEW’s PPV All Out in 2022. There he defeated Jon Moxley to win back the AEW Championship.

But during the match, he suffered a torn tricep which led him to take a break of 9 months. He also had to vacate the AEW Championship after being suspended by President Tony Khan on account of a backstage altercation that happened after the event. Wrestling fans will always remember that fateful night for Punk’s post-event press conference outrage.
