In other news, AEW might have lost its biggest star. The star in question here is Maxwell Jacob Freidman, a.k.a, MJF. The star was last seen at the AEW World’s End PPV. At the PPV, he was unable to defend his AEW World Championship title against Samoa Joe and was eventually betrayed by Adam Cole, who happened to be the masked devil. Since then, MJF has been absent from the ring and television. However, recent developments suggest that he might be heading out of AEW.
Is MJF not a part of AEW?
If you wanted to show support for Everyone’s Favorite Scumbag by purchasing his merchandise from AEW’s online store, you might have to think of another way to support him. In a drastic move, AEW has removed all of his merch from their official merchandise website. If someone happens to search MJF in the search bar of the website, they will end up with a 404 error not found message.

However, what is interesting to note is that there is no regular internet pop-up. Instead, it looks like an overly dramatic image which might suggest otherwise. This news came months after he was erased from the official roster page of AEW. In case you missed it, his name was removed from the roster page the very next day of the AEW World’s End PPV.
Speaking about this on ‘Going Ringside for News4JAX’, Tony Khan said, “I can say that MJF certainly has been a great part of AEW for the first five years. And through those five years, certainly, he’s been one of our great homegrown stars…and he’s somebody we really value and I would love to have MJF in AEW in the future, should the contractual situation allow.”
“Certainly MJF is somebody we would love to have an AEW going forward. And he’s been a great wrestler and a great champion for us.”
Some suggest that this all might be to ensure a smoother transition to WWE. At the latest episode of Monday Night Raw, Cody Rhodes referred to the term, Salt of the Earth, which also happens to be the former AEW champion’s finisher move. But the question is, what is the behind-the-scenes news on MJF?

What is Tony Khan planning?
While it might look like an overly dramatic plot, could this be a part of MJL’s storyline? This might be the next chapter of MJF’s story, as there are several other reasons behind his absence. Following his cameo in the 2024 wrestling biopic, ‘Iron Claw‘, the star secured another role in a Jewish comedy film, ‘The Floaters‘. However, that is not the only reason for his absence.

As per reports, he has sustained some major injuries due to his repeated antics inside the ring. He has suffered a shoulder injury which was reported to be very grave. Dave Meltzer had previously revealed, “MJF worked the match in great pain with his torn labrum, as well as hip injury from the crazy elbow drop off the top rope to the floor in the Jay White match at Full Gear. The shoulder injury is the most serious.”
Unlike other stars, MJF wishes to avoid surgery and go for physical rehab instead. That way, the wrestler won’t need to be away for a year.
