Tony Khan might be bringing the 2021 version of AEW back for its fans. Lately, there have been talks about Mercedes Mone joining AEW. Apart from her, rumor has it that one of the NJPW‘s top stars, Kazuchika Okada, might be joining the roster soon. The word has it that Okada is now a free agent. It was reported that he was in talks with WWE as well. However, it is believed he has an inclination towards Tony Khan’s promotion. While these are all just rumors, we have some leads that rejoice the OG AEW fans.
Kazuchika Okada is headed to AEW
According to a report by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, the media house has learned that Okada is headed for the Jacksonville-based promotion. He is set to sign the contract soon and will become a part of the roster. Tony Khan had stated that he will be focusing more on the free agent market for 2024 and he might be delivering on his promise.

Okada’s inclination towards AEW is something that fans could understand. The Rainmaker has previously worked with Khan during the various Forbidden Door events. A few days ago, it was reported that Okada is in talks with both WWE and AEW.
While he had reached out to other talents at WWE to get an idea about the work culture, it was reported that AEW is pretty confident about their offer.

Tony Khan’s big plans for 2024
According to Sapp, AEW might have planned some big things for this year. Four big events will be happening at AEW and they will happen within a month or so from each other. The first thing on the card for AEW might be the debut of Mercedes Mone f.k.a Sasha Banks. It has been rumored that she has completed the filming of her debut content and will be debuting at the upcoming AEW Dynamite’s Big Bussiness edition on March 13, 2024.

But that’s not all. Her debut would be followed by the entry of Kazuchika Okada and Will Ospreay. The fourth big event this year would be Sting’s retirement match.
