AEW’s Revolution is one of AEW’s biggest events starting off the year. Not only are significant titles on the line, but it will also be The Icon Sting’s final pro wrestling match. Set to face The Young Bucks alongside Darby Allin; this is one of the most anticipated matches in the business. Several former WWE superstars appeared backstage at the event to see Sting wrestle for the last time. One of these happened to be John Cena‘s former WWE partner.

John Cena’s rival and partner Heath Slater, seen at AEW Revolution

Heath Slater was part of the WWE since 2006 but didn’t make it big till 2010. On an episode of RAW that year, NXT’s heel group, The Nexus, attacked John Cena and CM Punk during their match. Asserting their dominance, they took out both men and destroyed the ring. The team was made up of season one NXT rookies who were tired of the main roster getting all the spotlight. Unfortunately, by 2011, the team had been dissolved, with each member moving towards making their own individual marks.

However, before all this took place in October 2010, Cena was forced to join The Nexus, making him and Slater partners. Today, at the AEW Revolution PPV, he was seen with Bohdi Hayward.

Along with them, Nick Wayne, Matt Hardy, Emily Jaye, and Brittany Jade are also present at the show. This comes from Fightful Select’s AEW Revolution Scoops thread on Patreon.

In October 2023, his contract expired, and he moved back to the indie circuit. Slater’s future is unknown, along with that of another TNA star whose contract recently expired. This wrestler is married to AEW’s Deonna Purrazzo.
