Jeff Hardy's honesty about WrestleMania 33—Do you think WWE should have handled their return differently?

Jeff Hardy will go down in wrestling history as one of the most successful and beloved tag team wrestlers among fans. However, his personal life has been surrounded by controversy due to his problems with alcohol and drugs, which have had an impact on his work on more than one occasion. His latest relapse cost him a suspension from All Elite Wrestling and the promise of overcoming his problems before returning to action.

However, both he and his brother Matt Hardy progressively disappeared from the company’s television programming, which led them to abandon it altogether. So, just like his brother, Jeff Hardy returned to TNA during the Against All Odds event. But many thought that the Hardy Boyz would be returning to the WWE instead. After all, they had one of the loudest crowd pops when they made their surprise return at WrestleMania 33. But do you know that the Charismatic Enigma wasn’t completely satisfied with his WrestleMania return? But why? Let’s find out.

To many, the return of the Hardy Boyz at WrestleMania seemed like a perfect scene. From the way the New Day built up the hype, the crowd pop, the reactions of their fellow wrestlers, and the fact that they won gold in their very first appearance. As Homelander would say, “It was perfect—everything right down to the last minute detail.” However, it seems like it wasn’t so perfect, according to the high-flying younger Hardy. He wanted to change the iconic Hardy Boyz theme before they made their return.

Jeff Hardy appeared on the Busted Open Podcast, where he revealed that he would’ve liked to slow down their original theme. He said, “To be honest, the first time we when we went back at WrestleMania 33, I remember talking to Jericho after and I was like, yeah, man, it was pretty cool. Even though they played that old a*s Hardy Boyz music. And I was and still this day, I was I was looking so forward to like modest hitting. I’ve done this thing with the Hardy Boys music slowing down. It’s like, don’t don’t don’t don’t. But then it kicks in the modest, which would have as my original TNA theme. And still in the future, I think that can like happen for sure. But I’m kind of tired of that. Hardy Boys music really tired of it, to be honest.”

But seeing how iconic the original Hardy theme is, fans surely would prefer not to touch it. In fact, they should even use it at their WWE Hall of Fame induction in the future. Which we all know will surely happen. But as for the AEW Hall of Fame, we aren’t sure. But what we do know is that Hardy regrets breaking the trust All Elite Wrestling placed in him.

In 2022, Jeff Hardy joined AEW after being fired by WWE. However, his time at AEW was quickly marred by personal issues and an arrest for driving under the influence, which ruined the plans the company had for him. Finally, Hardy left AEW a few weeks ago and joined TNA. During his recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, Jeff Hardy acknowledged that he still feels guilt and shame for what happened during his time at AEW.

Hardy said the company placed trust in him and didn’t know how to take advantage of the opportunity they offered. However, he spoke enthusiastically about his current time at TNA and was excited about this new opportunity. He said, “Definitely (my goal in TNA) is to win the TNA Tag Team Titles, basically because I have so much guilt and shame within me still just from AEW giving me an opportunity and even Matt (Hardy) to me breaking trust with my personal issues in real life and so I just wanna make that up to Matt and I can say right here that I will not break TNA’s trust. That is in my past and it feels good to have somewhat of a clean slate with all that stuff and kind of start fresh instead of having that guilt and shame about what I did in a certain world of pro wrestling.”

Both Jeff Hardy and Matt will have the opportunity to succeed again in TNA and to end their respective careers in a positive way and according to what they deserve. We’ll see if this also leads them to return to WWE at some point to enter the Hall of Fame. What do you think? Should the Hardy Boyz use their original theme when they return?
