MJF was recently spotted at the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2). While interacting with fans, The Salt of The Earth still wore a sling. Reports had suggested that the AEW star has a torn Labrum, which resulted in taking time off to recuperate. The timing also paved the way for fans to speculate that he may be planning on switching companies. It did not help that early this year, his name was removed from the AEW official online roster.
MJF: Hey so since your boy is canceled what are we gonna do about your name?
Me: I’m still shopping it around.
MJF: How bout MJF Guy?
Me: I like the sound of it.

Since December, many reports have revealed the severity of his injury. One claimed that natural reward was not working for the 18-year-old. Moreover, he had to undergo surgery. At the event, he interacted with fans but did not provide any update on his health or when he might be back in the ring. Post-surgery, he is in physical rehabilitation with slow progress. Fans are awaiting his return and rematch for the title, which is now Swerve Strickland’s. They also await the inevitable Adam Cole vs MJF match after the betrayal.
WWE stars like Cody Rhodes and John Cena voiced their desire to have MJF sign with the WWE. This and the time off made fans believe dropping the title at Worlds End was his final goodbye. As of now, his AEW contract status is unknown. While he is not listed under the AEW roster, the belief remains that MJF is signed with the promotion. The whole omission from the online roster is believed to be a work to build fan anticipation. At the C2E3 event, he interacted with Brock Lesnar Guy for an NSFW name suggestion. This showed that he still has his humor, and fans wish him a speedy recovery. What do you think? Tell us in the comments.
