There had been speculations for months regarding the debut of a new show by Tony Khan’s promotion. It was officially announced by Warner Bros. Discovery that the show would be called AEW Collision. The newest addition to AEW’s programming will premiere on June 17 on TNT. Collision will find its two-hour slot every Saturday, featuring some of the top-tier talents from the roster.

The first show will take place in front of a sold-out crowd in the United Center in Chicago. The logo for the show was also revealed with the news of its debut. However, the fans were quick enough to realize that it drew a great resemblance to the old WCW Monday Nitro logo. AEW Collision used the same text style and colors that Nitro had used back in the day.

Furthermore, it even drew attention from the brains behind the success of WCW, Eric Bischoff. He was an integral part of the creative strategies for Ted Turner’s former promotion. Moreover, he was heavily involved in the development and production of Nitro. This indicates that the logo for the same might has also come from the geniuses of Bischoff himself.

The former WCW President discussed his thoughts on the matter with Jon Alba during the latest edition of the Strictly Business podcast.

Bischoff said, “I’ll say rip-off is a better one … as soon as that logo was posted … the social media blew up …I can’t wait to see you there …he is going to bury AEW for that, it put a smile on my face …imitation is the sincerest form of flattery it didn’t bother me a bit.”

Bischoff also didn’t hold in his thoughts about AEW’s planning.

He said, “But what it did do … is make me realize…that I had been right … at least I believe … I could be wrong but I believe I am … when I say that …the creative …whoever is in charge of creative strategy or brand strategy …whether it’s at TBS or AEW … I don’t know who ultimately decided that logo was a good idea … really don’t have a clue … there is no … that I can see.”
