The pro wrestling business, like other storylines, involves special characters, and fans have seen everything from the spooky Boogeyman and The Undertaker to the humorous Santino Marella. Similar to how AEW superstar Paul Wight, formerly known as Big Show from WWE, has done The Giant and also the Giant Santa. However, his Captain Insano character is unique compared to the others and has recently sparked discussion as it was reintroduced in AEW on the most recent Dynamite episode.

For those who don’t know, he played Captain Insano in the cult comedy The Waterboy from 1998, which was one of his memorable gimmicks. In the movie, Adam Sandler’s Bobby Boucher, the central protagonist, saw him as a hero who was a professional wrestler.

Meanwhile, AEW recreated the famous movie sequence, which brought in $186 million. While speaking with Insano backstage, Anthony Bowens and Max Caster are featured as commentators in the recent recreation. The  two phonies, calling themselves Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee, ask the three if Swerve in Our Glory would be able to defeat The Acclaimed at AEW Full Gear. The three laugh hysterically just like in the movie. The Acclaimed then enters and introduces the new song.

Well, it’s nothing new; former WWE superstar turned All Elite has generally expressed his desire to play Captain Insano once again. And when he made his official comeback as Insano, not only he but also his fans went bonkers.

Fans have been anticipating it since Wight initially expressed interest in portraying the role of Insano. It appears that AEW is also trying a new promotional strategy to get fans’ attention, and this time, it seems to be succeeding. Fans were eager to see Insano once AEW acquired Insano’s rights. However, it wasn’t anticipated that he would be reintroduced in this way.
