He explained, “Whenever there’s like some sort of decision like that, life-altering decision, there’s a lot of thought that goes into it. Obviously, I didn’t have a lot of time to think about this.”

Christian added that he is not in AEW just as a performer, but he wants to give back to the young talented wrestlers on the roster.

He further added, “What I really needed was the best platform for me. I kind of got a second lease on life here with this. And I needed what I felt was going to be the best platform for me to be able to showcase that, but also help. Where can I help also the next generation? And that’s kind of what I felt here at AEW? Like, that’s what this is.”

Fans were ecstatic to see Christian make his return at the Royal Rumble earlier this year. Everyone thought the former World Heavyweight Champion would be back with WWE, but little did they know he had other plans.

Christian talks about his conversation with Tony Khan

The Canadian revealed the conversation he had with Tony Khan. He said the two spoke for two hours straight when they first met. He also revealed that he and Tony were on the same tangent regarding how they wanted to write Christian’s final chapter.

“From that initial conversation, again, like I didn’t think was going to go that well. And it came together pretty quickly after that. You know, I just think we hit it off and kind of had the same feeling as to where he saw me and what I could do and what I could bring to the table and how I can not only you know, they said help the roster and help myself and help the show.”

“And it’s like, there’s something intriguing about that to me. Yeah. And I like a challenge. Yeah. And so it was like I said, it was not an easy decision, but it also wasn’t a hard decision if that makes sense.” concluded Christian Cage.
