Cody Rhodes, who used to be a prominent figure in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and an integral part of its leadership, recently shed light on the backstage atmosphere when rumors emerged about his potential signing with WWE in 2022.

Despite the buzz surrounding his possible departure, Rhodes revealed that the AEW locker room remained unfazed by the speculations as nobody imagined him actually leaving the promotion.

During a candid discussion with Sean Ross Sap from Fightful.com, Cody Rhodes opened up about his feelings before a match in Dallas in January 2022. He believed he might face backlash due to the swirling rumors about him leaving AEW. However, to his surprise, he received a warm reception from the crowd. It was also reflecting the fans’ unwavering support for the wrestling sensation.

Behind the scenes, Cody discussed the reaction among his colleagues in the AEW locker room when the news of him potentially leaving the promotion made its rounds. Everyone who knew Rhodes took pride in being an executive and loved the role never expected him to leave.

Rhodes told Fightful.com that “he didn’t think anyone was concerned because they didn’t believe he’d leave AEW”. Cody further added that “they didn’t think he would go because AEW was The Young Bucks, Tony Khan, and his baby.”
