Could Paige's WWE return be the spark the women's division desperately needs right now?

Paige was one of WWE’s brightest emerging prospects a few years ago, but a career-threatening injury forced her to retire for nearly half a decade. When the former WWE Divas Champion chose to return after her hiatus, the old regime of the company refused to keep her at WWE. Since then, she has been a prominent presence at AEW, but it appears that her tenure there is coming to an end shortly.

New reports from Fightful Select confirm that Saraya’s contract with the company is going to an end. With chances to extend the contract for a few more years on the table, the wrestler still has the option to stay at the company. However, the reports continued to indicate that Paige had refused these offers and could quit the organization for good. If this update pans out, the former WWE Divas Champion will be available as a free agent at the end of September.

Furthermore, there has been conjecture that Paige was in negotiations with Triple H at the moment she left WWE. The Game did not have much influence at the time, therefore he could not lay down the red carpet for her reentry. As stated in the stories above, the WWE’s new creative director would love to have Paige on the roster because of the close bond they have.

This is why fresh rumors have surfaced that her return to WWE is more likely to occur now that her contract is winding down. Anything may still happen, and it will be interesting to observe how AEW attempts to keep her for the future.

Despite all of these reports, Saraya is still quite active in AEW and has several major bouts ahead of her.

Saraya has major appearances planned out in AEW

Could Paige's WWE return be the spark the women's division desperately needs right now?

Have an interesting take?

We all know that AEW’s one of the largest PLE All In is coming up, and while Paige is not on the match card, she is still marketed for it. This suggests that there is a significant probability that the former AEW Women’s World Champion may attend the event and make a surprise appearance to cut a promo or intervene in a bout. Her appearance remains close to being certain considering the fact that the AEW star hails from England from where the marquee PPV is set to emanate from.

Apart from this appearance, Saraya is also set to be in a match on Wednesday following ALL In. Tony Khan might bring out the goods to devise a fruitful plot in order to persuade her to remain with the promotion. Anything may happen at this point, and wrestling fans must wait and see where their favorite wrestler is heading in the future.
