CM Punk joined AEW in 2021. After functioning smoothly for a while, the company proved to be problematic for him. The former WWE star got into a feud with AEW’s two Executive Vice Presidents. The feud led to both parties being suspended for a lengthy amount of time. Although the EVPs, Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks returned eventually, CM Punk remained exiled from TV time. This controversy was subject to a lot of debate. However, the relationship between the company and CM Punk now seems to be getting better.
Recently AEW President Tony Khan officially announced that Punk will be returning to AEW television after the long gap. In fact, his return won’t be just any regular in-ring performance but will give him more powers than a usual talent would get.
