“Had No Business”: Jade Cargill Fires Shots at Tony Khan for Booking Her Against Shaquille O’Neal Despite No Experience

Jade Cargill might currently be busy gearing up for his high-flying WrestleMania spot under the Stamford-based company’s banner, but she wasn’t this busy a while back. The 31-year-old kicked off her pro-wrestling career in Tony Khan’s promotion back in November 2020 and etched her name as a seasoned wrestling force to be reckoned with through years of consistent hard work and dedication. That said, a promotion that has been infamous for the poor strength and functioning of their women’s roster quite feasibly failed to treat her well. Cargill looked back at her time at AEW and shared a disappointing detail.

Jade Cargill called out Tony Khan for wasting her potential 

WWE has made Jade Cargill look like a much greater star in her momentous 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble debut than her entire AEW run of three years. She stormed through the ring, catching the crowd off guard, and wreaked havoc on Nia Jax. Although she got kicked out by Liv Morgan after rising to the final three, the former AEW set the sky as the limit for her.

Now, as she is dishing up for her big breaking moment in the six-women tag team matching WrestleMania right now, the 31-year-old put her former employer, Tony Khan’s, leadership skills under critical scrutiny for senselessly booking her alongside Shaquille O’Neal.

During the recent episode of Busted Open Radio, Jade Cargill divulged, ”I want to be the big fish in the big pond because I know I can swim. I’ve been thrown in the water from day one, and had no business being in a match that early, but I was the first match ever thrown on the stage with Shaquille O’Neal against Cody Rhodes. Like, who gets that? I did. However, I had no business being in that match at all. I didn’t have a match prior to that. I didn’t know what I was doing out there, but I did it and I swim and I’m here today.”

The former AEW TBS Champion was done dealing with her limiting scope in the Jacksonville-based promotion and decided to venture out onto a new path. Fortunately, the new path worked excessively well for her and prompted her to aim for more in the days to come.

Her plans: longing to do more business in WWE 

After cutting ties with Tony Khan officially last year in September, she stepped into the WWE ring, marking the very first signing under TKO Group Holdings and the second high-profile signing with an AEW history after Cody Rhodes.

In a post-WWE debut interview, Jade Cargill revealed she parted ways in a very professional and balanced way, and there were no hard feelings attached at all. After all, whatever she did, it’s all for business. For now, her fans are waiting with bated breath to see what she brings to the ring alongside Bianca Belair and Naomi tonight at Lincoln Financial Field.
