Fans could agree that AEW is known more for what happens outside the ring rather than what happens in the ring. The promotion is known to have quite a few backstage altercations. The most infamous ones are obviously those involving CM Punk at the AEW All In 2023 and at the AEW All Out 2022 PPVs. The details might be scarce on both subjects, however, the bigger mystery has always been AEW All Out 2022. The reason behind this recently came to light.

Lucy Guy was the only one not bound by an NDA

Stephen P New, who represented both CM Punk and Ace Steel during the infamous ‘2022 Brawl Out’ revealed the reason. He commented that all the people present there including Punk, Steel, and Khan are bound by an NDA and confidentiality provisions. However, the only person who is not bound by any NDAs or confidentiality contracts is Steel’s wife and former WWE star Lucy Guy. New said, “The only person, and granted she’s not completely objective and unbiased, the only person not subject to an NDA and not subject to confidentiality provisions is Ace’s wife Lucy.” He even added that Lucy might someday shed light on the event.

Ace Steel who is known for his work at WWE joined All Elite Wrestling back in 2022. It was revealed in August of 2022 that Steel would be working behind the curtains as a part of the creative crew. He made his first on-camera AEW appearance on the August 31, 2022 episode of AEW Dynamite. There he came out to encourage Punk to sign an open contract for a rematch with John Moxley for the 2022 edition of All Out. However, things took an ugly turn for everyone after the All Out PPV.

At the media scrum following the PPV, the Second City Saint openly fired shots at the Elites of AEW. His crosshairs landed on Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, and Hangman Adam Page. As stated earlier, the details are scarce. However, it was reported that the Bucks and Omega barged into Punk’s locker room where Steel and his wife were present. Following the incident, the champions were stripped of their titles and Punk and Steel were suspended.

However, Punk did make his return to AEW in June 2023. At the same time, it was announced that Steel is working with AEW once again, but remotely. He was still a part of the creative team until he was released in September of 2023. Around the same time, Punk was also released from AEW following a backstage altercation.
