The iconic rise and fall of WCW is one of wrestling’s most captivating stories. This storied chapter in pro wrestling comprised big dreams, massive successes, painful failures, and the harsh realities of the professional wrestling business. ECW too is wrestling history. For more than a decade, WWE decided to dispense with what was one of its brands for several years (2006-2010) and previously an independent company (1992-2001). They did often use the names of major events from the Paul Heyman-run company like The Great American Bash, Heatwave, No Mercy, etc., but the company is long gone. And unfortunately, it seems like AEW may join the list soon.

At least from the way they are losing viewership. So what happens when the curtain closes down for the company? Well, while the lights may shut down for AEW, this might mark the beginning of Tony Khan‘s in-ring career.

In the latest edition of the F4WOnline podcasts, Bryan Alvarez and Mike Sempervive discussed an interview with Tony Khan, where he rejected the idea of wrestling a match. At the time, he rejected the idea saying the AEW’s ring is reserved for the best wrestlers in the industry. But what if AEW shuts down, and it is their last-ever show? Will Tony Khan finally wrestle? Well, he might, according to the hosts. They said, “You know if WBD hired Jamie Kelner and he’s like it’s over. I’m canceling AEW. It’s done, and the company was just going out of business. Well, that should be the main event of the final show. It should be Tony Khan, Kenny Omega, and some other baby face against, you know Jack Perry and the Young Bucks. And Hangman, Kenny Omega do all the work. They beat up those Young Bucks. They hit the V-Trigger and The Buckshot tag, and Tony, he covers, gets the pin. Everybody celebrates a spray liquor, and the thing’s over. It’s done. That would be a fitting ending.”

It would surely be fun to see Tony Khan wrestle. He did sell the Elite’s move well enough to pull off a kayfabe injury. So maybe he would turn out to be a surprise package after all. But it would surely be sad to see another wrestling promotion losing to the behemoth WWE. Another downfall worthy of being made into a documentary, like the one being made on WCW.
