Matt Hardy’s rumored WWE return has been a constant talking point in WWE Universe since his surprise attendance at Raw, on March 18. Although it was tipped like a casual fun night in Hardy’s hometown, fans can’t refrain from seeing beneath the picture and hoping for a WrestleMania return.
On the top, during SmackDown 3/22, WWE dropped a massive tease promoting the Hardy Boys through WWE’s documentary television series WWE Rivals. Now, the buzz has reached a fever pitch with Matt Hardy himself reminiscing about a 7-year-old championship run of the Hardy Boyz on Instagram.

The Hardy Boys are best remembered for their highly impactful tag team run since the Attitude era. However, with their time in WWE coming to an end in 2010, the brothers joined TNA. They used to be regular acts on the promotion back during its heyday. In 2017, The Hardy Boyz brought their talents to various promotions and ended up holding many championship belts. As far as TNA is concerned, they embarked on their first expedition of gold there in the same year. Digging up that precious memory, Matt Hardy shared an old picture of the brothers holding the gold on his Instagram handle and wrote in the caption,’ #TBT 2017 The Broken Hardys on The Expedition of Gold!’

The photo is significant in two ways. Either it symbolizes a recollection of a past achievement or it can indicate great things on the horizon. It references the possibility of a timeframe when their grand WWE return could come to fruition. Nevertheless, this exact same scenario has transpired in the past too. During WrestleMania 33 The Hardy Boyz won a wild ladder match and ushered in the new champions’ era.
So Hardy’s nostalgic trip down memory lane might as well hinted about another massive WWE return at WrestleMania and even a new tag team championship run, especially given the rumor mills’ current dynamic. However, while everything still stands at the level of speculation currently, company veterans are up for welcoming the legends back in the lore.
WCW legend sees business in the rumored Hardy Boyz return
While WWE hasn’t engaged in any active talks with the Hardy Boys, their AEW contract reportedly expires by the end of this month. And WCW Disco Inferno like many others, deem it as a perfect opportunity to bring the former tag team champions back in the roster. He believes it will be an equally beneficial call for the superstars as well. “They’ll produce TV in WWE if they show up. …..produce the spots which protect them and get them a huge pop. They’ll get whatever mileage of The Hardy Boyz that they can and they’ll set them up for success,” Inferno noted in a recent interview.
