Tony Khan received another letter of thanks as a marquee superstar is officially parting ways with the promotion after a two-and-a-half-year stint. The star in question is none other than Andrade El Idolo, who has reportedly cut ties with Khan professionally. Moreover, speculation suggests he could jump ship to his former wrestling home, WWE.

Despite coming to the end of the contract with the Jacksonville-based promotion, Idolo wanted to end it on a rather smooth note. He held zero grudges and paid tribute to the AEW head honcho for his eventful time in the business. And he didn’t shy away from expressing the same in a recent tweet. With this, his potential WWE comeback became more obvious, to say the least.

In the recent past, Khan has lost several talents for various reasons. Sonny Kiss, Zack Clayton, VSK, Jade Cargill, and Shawn Spears are among the superstars who recently left the company. Meltzer previously noted how Khan himself put his head on the block for his autocratic booking style amidst growing dissatisfaction among his soldiers in the long term, prompting them to set off, eventually.

That said, the aforementioned reason might not be the driving force behind Idolo’s departure, as the star recently made it clear that his exit was due to personal reasons. Reports suggested that both parties somehow failed to agree on the contract terms and decided to end things mutually.

After Khan announced the shell-shocking news following the AEW Worlds End, Andrade El Idolo broke his silence and conveyed his thoughts through a long heartfelt letter.

He beautifully penned sincere gratitude and thanks to Khan and all the persons involved in his endeavors with the company for the past years, fueling the ongoing hype about his touted WWE return even more.

While WWE has yet to officially announce Andrade’s return, all the events are piling up in this favor. Reports previously suggested that a former champion would return to WWE on the ‘Day 1’ episode of Monday Night Raw. The Internet was set ablaze with the speculation that the said star might be the former NXT star, Andrade. But it came out hollow as Jinder Mahal came out as the one in the Raw brand show last Monday.

However, the clues didn’t stop there. Another recent report has suggested that Andrade’s return to WWE is just a matter of time now. According to that source, Andrade was advertised for one GCW event in 2024, but he’s no longer a part of the event. So, WWE might be the next big thing for the 34-year-old.
