The rivalry between Drew McIntyre and CM Punk in WWE is one of the most intense and personal in a long time. ‘The Scottish Psychopath’ and ‘The Best in the World’ have gone all out. Taking mockery, provocations, and personal attacks to levels rarely seen. Ever since McIntyre injured Punk at the Royal Rumble, his social media posts have been riddled with provocative and funny memes, photographs, and videos. All dedicated directly or indirectly to his arch-nemesis.
A practice that has reached new heights in his most recent post on Instagram. As McIntyre took some pictures with an old acquaintance of CM Punk, Jack Perry. The story of CM Punk and Jack Perry is well-known to fans of professional wrestling. Through a leak, fans learned that Punk had scolded Perry for wanting to use real glass in a spot in AEW Collision. The Chicago fighter’s refusal sparked an argument that didn’t go any further.
However, during his match at All in London, Perry had a spot involving the windshield of a car. As soon as he did so, Perry turned to the camera to make it clear that it was real glass. He further said the phrase, “Cry me a river” to the camera. The comment ended up upsetting CM Punk. In fact, it led to a backstage altercation. As a result of which, both wrestlers were suspended and further led to Punk’s subsequent departure from All Elite Wrestling.

According to McIntyre himself, the photos he uploaded are real. It is unknown when and where the images were taken. But they were accompanied by a direct message to CM Punk: “Cry us a river.” But how did McIntyre manage to get a photograph with talent from his rival competition despite being a WWE superstar? Even if he took the picture, sharing it proudly on social media is unheard of. So will McIntyre be punished by the WWE? Well, not according to the Busted Open Podcast.
Drew McIntyre’s bulletproof status at WWE
In the latest edition of the Busted Open Podcast, Matt Camp, Nic Nemeth, and Thunder Rosa discussed how Punk and McIntyre’s latest feud has blurred the lines of reality by involving Jack Perry and social media. But seeing the WWE’s history of being strict with their talents, it seems weird to see how the WWE is allowing the Scottish Warrior to go beyond the limits. Well, according to Matt Camp, it might be because McIntyre is now as bulletproof in the WWE as Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.
He said, “Drew’s at the top of the company. Drew got a sword from the Rock six months ago. He’s pretty much bulletproof. If you get the sword from that guy, I think you’re good. You can go out and do these things. But I guess it was maybe the beginning of the year.”Well, it surely looks like McIntyre is enjoying this new status in the WWE. He is geared up to play more mind games with Punk before their much-anticipated matchup. Drew McIntyre and CM Punk will face off at WWE SummerSlam in a match that will feature Seth Rollins as a special referee. This was announced by Adam Pearce on the latest episode of Monday Night Raw, where CM Punk confirmed that he had already been medically cleared to compete.
WWE SummerSlam 2024 will take place on Saturday, August 3, at Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio. Fans will be able to watch this event live from the venue or through its broadcast through Peacock in the United States and WWE Network internationally. What do you think? Will these mind games work on CM Punk, who already has the odds stacked against him with Rollins as a guest referee, or will the Best in the World prove himself as the greatest by winning the matchup?
