The legend of CM Punk is growing by the day. While fans are still waiting for the Second City Saint to return to the ring, he hasn’t made any announcement pertaining to it of late. Meanwhile, a 30-year-old NJPW wrestler has expressed his interest in facing Punk inside the squared circle. However, he doesn’t want to live in the United States of America.

This match, which wasn’t a possibility a few years ago, could take place in the future. But AEW President Tony Khan will have to make special arrangements, as the young wrestler is not too keen about his stay in North America, where his wrestling promotion is based.

The wrestling sensation is none other than Will Ospreay. While the British wrestler is contracted to NJPW, he’s no stranger to the AEW faithful either, by virtue of his several appearances on AEW television.

The former IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion appeared on the popular podcast Insight with Chris Van Vliet recently, where he opened up about various topics, including his future in pro-wrestling. Earlier this year, the wrestler had stated that his NJPW contract was due to expire in February 2024. This led to speculations about the 30-year-old joining rival promotions. However, he lifted the lid on the issue during the chat.

When Van Vliet asked him if he would want to move to the US, Ospreay was quick to state his choice. “I am very confident that me and New Japan are going to work something out because I just don’t want to live in America. That’s just my full-stop thing,” he said.

Ospreay said he’s hoping he can have a match with former WWE superstar CM Punk. The 44-year-old Punk is currently signed to AEW but hasn’t been seen wrestling for the promotion ever since the infamous backstage brawl last year. Answering to the host’s questions about a match with Punk, he said, “Maybe. I have no idea what’s going on, but once again, I’m all about business and hopefully, it’s something that can work out.”

Meanwhile, Ospreay will hope to enthrall the AEW faithful later this year. He could face an AEW favorite for a title match.

Will Ospreay will try to regain his IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship

In April, Will Ospreay shared a heartbreaking update after he suffered a shoulder injury in March during his New Japan Cup quarter-final match. It kept him away from action for one and a half months. The 30-year-old returned to the ring on May 21. However, the former Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion will look to win his bout on June 4 against Lance Archer. The match at NJPW Dominion will decide the opponent for Kenny Omega’s IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship.
