Tony Khan often comes under fire when the internet wrestling community is dissatisfied with AEW’s booking choices and the underutilization of its massive roster. This happens quite often but rarely, from the company’s own employees. Kenny Omega, who is one of the EVPs of AEW, recently took a shot at the talents that Khan has picked for the roster.

This happened during an online outrage that he inflicted upon another star who had visited AEW previously. Omega took a shot at him, potentially teasing something in the future, and also called out his co-workers in the process.

On X, Gabe Kidd left a tweet for Kenny Omega. Earlier this year, the NJPW star showcased his skill set at The Forbidden Door. After that match, he gained the confidence to call out the EVP of the company and said, “KENNY OMEGA ⏳⌛⏰,” signaling that ‘time is running out’. This is probably a teaser for what could be coming shortly. Omega didn’t sit silently to this call and replied, “You must have forgotten that I work for AEW. Most of our roster are delusional psychopaths like you so I’m kinda used to the schtick.

Before calling him out for a match and giving him the “Kenny Omega touch“, the wrestler first took a shot at the rest of the AEW roster, calling them delusional and narcissistic. Indirectly, this is a jibe at the talent that Tony Khan tends to hire.

Although this is likely a kayfabe statement, stars who have left AEW have also spoken against the AEW head honcho, including Jade Cargill.

Jade Cargill criticized AEW’s booking after moving to greener pastures

After signing for WWE, Jade Cargill spent plenty of time off the stage, probably honing her skills to enter the squared circle again. At Royal Rumble 2024, the Stamford-based company’s fans saw Cargill in a PLE for the first time. She blew through most of the opposition before unfortunately suffering elimination. She went on to have brilliant matches and that streak continues to this day. Her persona portrays her as a force not to meddle with, and that might be true in WWE. But in AEW, she believes her potential wasn’t used to the fullest.

There was a time when AEW pitched her to participate in a mixed tag match alongside Shaquille O’Neal. While some fans may have loved the match back then, Cargill wasn’t too happy about the prospect. In an interview with Busted Open Podcast a few hours before WrestleMania XL, the former Women’s Tag Team Champion claimed that she had no place in that match. Despite it being hype among fans, Jadee Cargill did not feel the match belonged on the card.

While Kenny Omega’s callout was in kayfabe compared to that of Cargill’s, it still shows that Khan may not be safe from criticism, even from the talents that he hired. What did you make of Omega’s creative jab at his opponent? Let us know in the comments section below.
