When someone says Rhodes, the first things that come to mind are Goldust and Stardust. But, Cody Rhodes himself doesn’t want that to be the first thing to come to mind.
During an interview, Cody Rhodes spoke with Ariel Helwani about his former WWE Character – Stardust.
According to him, he doesn’t ever want to see the character again, and this request was put in before he returned to WWE. Even though the company never guaranteed anything, it’s something he wants on a personal level.

Cody Rhodes took on the Stardust character to form a tag team with his brother, who was playing the character Goldust. Unfortunately, this character didn’t work for him as great as Goldust worked for his brother.
Cody Rhodes had to work rather hard to ensure the fans responded to his work and skills. Therefore, it’s understandable why he didn’t want to do a second WWE run with the character.

Cody Rhodes returned to WWE at WrestleMania 38
The former AEW Superstar returned to WWE at WrestleMania 38 against Seth Rollins. In fact, Rollins did not know who his opponent would be considering Vince McMahon said he would handpick the opponent himself and reveal it at WrestleMania 38.
When Rhodes came out, the crowd cheered like never before. Everyone was looking forward to his return, but no one knew exactly when Rhodes was returning.
At WrestleMania 38, Rhodes returned to the ring in his American Nightmare character and took on The Drip God.
The match between Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes was interesting. Both of them took shots at each other, but only one could leave the ring as the winner.

This time, it was Cody Rhodes who won the match. But, it doesn’t seem like his storyline with Seth Rollins is over. The duo can possibly continue this rivalry on Raw or SmackDown.

Now, the primary reason Rhodes jumped ships and arrived at WWE is because he wasn’t able to negotiate the contract he wanted with AEW. If he hadn’t been able to negotiate the contract he wanted with WWE, there’s a chance he wouldn’t have returned to WWE.
