To say CM Punk is a controversial person in the pro wrestling business would be an understatement. Fans either love him or hate him. The amount of headlines he gains in a year is something other wrestlers dream of doing. Whether it be due to his in-ring performance or mic skills, Punk always finds a way to make headlines.

However, during the recent episode of AEW Dynamite, his real-life enemies subtly mentioned Punk, and not in a good way.

The Young Bucks hint at CM Punk bringing in toxicity

Since the AEW All In debacle in August of 2023 in London, fans have been divided on Punk. While many claim that he had nothing to do with the fiasco or that Punk reacted normally, people have still been talking about the incident and CM Punk. While there have been a few to call Punk out on his toxicity, no one expected The Young Bucks to do it as well.

The backstage incident between Punk and Jack Perry led to Punk’s termination from the company. While Tony Khan made the incident even worse on social media. Furthermore, it led to backstage reports leaking regarding the toxicity in AEW. Fans and critics took this opportunity to slam Khan and Punk for whatever happened.

“We did lose our way, it was like the culture shifted and toxicity creeped into the locker rooms,” they said. Fans took this as a direct shot at Punk. While The Young Bucks never mentioned his name, fans are well-versed with the animosity. “We started to lean on yesterday’s self-serving, superficial, cancerous superstars,” and this line by the Bucks has Punk’s name all over it.

While Punk has remained silent on the whole matter, there have been AEW stars who have stood beside Punk. According to them, the media has painted Punk in the wrong light. So, is Punk really toxic?

Punk has had a rather roller coaster of a career. In the WWE, his 2009 gimmick of the ‘Straight Edge Savior’ saw him preach about veganism and alcohol and drug use. While it led to an entertaining feud with Jeff Hardy, fans found it preachy and exclusionary. His pipebomb in 2012 was another stunt that gained him recognition, but not everyone was happy about it.
