CM Punk has always been at loggerheads with some or the other within the promotion he vests in. The Second City Saint had a brutal exit from AEW last year following his petty backstage brawl with Jack Perry at All In Night. After engulfing in one controversy too many, Tony Khan announced the marquee wrestler’s sacking. Ever since the heat between the former employer-recruiter duo has been one of the most discussed debates in the wrestling Universe.
The situation turned even worse, with Khan re-joining the rival promotion subsequently. Now, Punk fanned the flame of their past beef with a passive-aggressive comment on his IG story.

The AEW-CM Punk relationship first showed its cracks when the latter got into a fight with The Elite. Most of the AEW locker room did not approve of Punk’s on and off-screen antics throughout. So, the Chicago-based star, being forced to leave with a bitter taste in his mouth after the infamous ALL-In incident, came off as bliss. But, quite contradictorily, it raised questions about Tony Khan’s ethics as a promoter and booker.
The seething air of animosity continued to turn tides with Punk, calling his former boss a clown. The AEW head honcho grabbed headlines as he released the footage of the infamous brawl between Punk and Perry. Amidst the barbs and counterbarbs, it seems CM Punk has advised caution against his detractors.
The Best in the World has recently returned to the foray after being medically cleared to wrestle and is vying to launch another dose of harm on Drew Mclntyre on their scheduled SummerSlam bout. Ahead of that high-stake night next weekend, Punk rose above all his critics, especially the AEW faithful, noting, ‘I used to rush to defend myself against false accusations but now I watch to see who believes it, so I know who to cut off first.”
