All Elite Wrestling hosted a new episode of AEW Dynamite from the Charleston Coliseum in Charleston, West Virginia. The matches and segments of the show were put on the back burner following the revelation of the backstage footage of All In London 2023, which revealed the altercation between CM Punk and Jack Perry.

However, it caused quite a stir on social media. Mentions of CM Punk, Jack Perry, Tony Khan, and The Young Bucks became a trend within X (Twitter) for several hours. With very polarized comments to what was seen in the footage and its projection to the public. But one evident thing was the fans’ support for CM Punk, as they chanted his name throughout the segment as revealed in a viral video.

It is tough to guess the real motive behind Tony Khan’s decision to pull such a risky move. After all, it is known by all that AEW has an NDA signed with CM Punk. And if the motive was to grab some fan support for Jack Perry or AEW, it surely backfired. As evidenced by a viral video on X. The video reveals that while the CCTV footage aired, fans kept chanting CM Punk to show their support for the Chicago-made star.

The episode received severe backlash and is trending for all the wrong reasons. And it looks like even Tony Khan is aware of it now as he is taking action to stop the trend. This has surely become a PR disaster for the promotion.

The negative trend gained ground on a platform known as Cagematch. Cagematch is a database-focused website that dwells on wrestling and allows the public to rate events and programs. At the time of writing, episode 236 of AEW Dynamite garnered a rating of 3.92 out of 10. Thus making it the lowest-ranked All Elite Wrestling live show on the website. The comments reflect the negative reviews on the footage presented by The Young Bucks.
