The friendship between Edge and Christian is as deep as the brotherhood of Jeff and Matt Hardy. The two school friends, since sixth grade, won the hearts of the WWE universe during the Attitude era and are still loved to this day. With Edge’s contract about to expire, fans hoped he would jump ship and join Christian in AEW. However, the recent words from Christian sound like the end of an era for the two friends.
Edge and Christian ruled over the early 2000s in the WWE. With incredible in-ring and backstage chemistry, the duo were among the most over wrestlers in the company. We can credit a lot of the cherished memories fans have to their friendship. But now, things seem to have changed.
Christian says Luchasaurus is his only friend

With Edge’s last match wrapped up neatly on SmackDown in Toronto, fans are eager to see what the Rated R Superstar will do next. Is he moving out of the WWE to try out greener pastures or just retiring for good? Many believed that AEW would be the next stop, thanks to his long-time real-life friend Christian being a part of it. However, Christian had something else to say.
Christian was asked a question during a press meet after the record-breaking AEW All-In in London. This was about Edge’s plans now that his time with the WWE is over. While fans were expecting some solid lead on Edge’s plans. Christian no-solid the question. Keeping true to his in-ring persona, he answered the question.

“I only talk about myself and Luchasaurus, and I have no friends other than Luchasaurus, and I’ll leave it at that,” he said. Christian previously spoke about Luchasaurus, saying he was an outstanding pupil and disciple. He also said that he would not be where he was without him. Interestingly, during the questioning, the reporter never mentioned Edge but called him by his real name, Adam Copeland. This is because ‘Edge‘ is trademarked by the WWE.

The statement by Christian left fans confused. While Christian cannot give away company secrets after months of leaks regarding new wrestlers joining the roster, his choice of words is rather interesting. While denying his decade-long friendship with Edge and picking his new company and colleagues over his past career does sound like a setup for an interesting confrontation.
Nevertheless, the status of Edge’s WWE contract has brought up many alluring possibilities.
Edge’s contact with the WWE ending and prospects
There has been a long-time speculation that Edge’s WWE contract will expire near the end of September 2023. During the episode of SmackDown shot in his hometown of Toronto, we saw his 25 years in the company celebration. An excellent match with a close friend, Sheamus, followed this. After the match, he addressed the fans and said he would likely never wrestle in his home city again.

While many fans take this as Edge finally putting down the gloves for real this time, others believe he is moving out of the WWE. Before AEW’s London event, fans believed the timing was perfect for Edge to debut during the show. While the Crossroads Edge is in seems interesting, with no plans with the WWE and major signs pointing to AEW, fans are more excited about Edge and Christian being in the same ring again.
