Chris Jericho might have become the Le Champion of AEW, but it seems he could not get over his days at WWE and his old friends there. On WWE TLC 2020, we saw Jericho’s former best friend Kevin Owens getting beat up by Roman Reigns and Jey Uso.
Although Owens tried his level best to win the Universal title, he succumbed to the dual attack of Uso and Reigns. After the match, a fan asked him why he did not have any friends in WWE to back him up against attacks like these. Owens answered –
Consequences of my actions for many years. Also, the Riott Squad wasn’t at the arena. https://t.co/dSG0nVByNo

He is referring to how he turned heel on every ‘friend’ of his. Now, even if he considers The Riott Squad (Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan) as friends, maybe the duo does not feel the same.
On this occasion, Jericho jumped in and proclaimed if he was there, Y2J would definitely have his back.
I would’ve made the sizzave brother…. https://t.co/JT0CGtEEH7

Sadly, Jericho is currently in AEW. Otherwise, we might have seen him rushing to Owens’ aid last night.
Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho go long back in WWE
When Owens initially debuted in WWE, he won the Universal title within a year. He was then paired up with Chris Jericho to properly learn the tricks of sports entertainment. The duo was ‘best friends’ and announced as the co-captains for Team RAW at Survivor Series in 2016. However, their team lost.
Yet, some tensions began to occur as time went by. In February 2017, Jericho hosted the infamous “Festival of Friendship” for Owens, who was not impressed. Owens turned on Jericho and viciously attacked him.

As revenge, Jericho cost Owens his Universal title at Fastlane. Owens too defeated Jericho for his United States Championship.
Kevin Owens still has a chance at the Universal title, as he will face Reigns in a steel cage match at the Christmas edition of Friday Night SmackDown.
