Is WWE making a huge mistake by letting Bobby Lashley go? What do you think?

A few days ago, a report from Fightful Select and Pro Wrestling Nexus suggested that MVP, Bobby Lashley, and Tamina were no longer on WWE’s internal roster. In addition, Lashley’s contract with the company expires very soon. Although now it seems that there is a more specific date. Within a short period, MVP took to his social media and dropped a hint at his WWE departure. On the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that the Stamford-based promotion has been working with the possibility in mind that the All Might and MVP might leave the Triple H-led promotion to re-form The Hurt Business faction again in AEW.

No official sources have admitted that both Lashley and MVP are bound to leave for All Elite Wrestling. However, the possibility is on the table. The fact that further strengthens the case is that Shelton Benjamin is also a free agent. So the options surely increase. PWInsider also added that the two-time WWE champion and the Hurt Business manager could join AEW once their contracts expire. However, a source from the WWE has stressed that momentum could change in the company at any moment. So nothing is official as of yet.

In Lashley’s case, so far it has been revealed that his contract with the WWE ends on August 10. The future of the two former members of The Hurt Business will be something very interesting to monitor. But what led to Lashley’s removal in the first place? It seemed that he was still very fit to dominate the roster. Well, a legendary manager in the realm of pro wrestling discussed the rationale behind Lashley’s exit.

Dutch Mantell reveals the reason behind Lashley getting axed

In the latest edition of his ‘Story Time with Dutch Mantell’ podcast, the legendary WWE manager revealed his thoughts on the removal of one of the most dominant superstars on the WWE roster. According to the veteran, Lashley’s firing had less to do with his age, since he still has superhuman strength and speed, but more to do with how long he has been in the promotion and how exposed he is now to the WWE Universe. He said, “Wrestlers have a shelf life. They do. It’s like you go to supermarket and you look up, do not use after such and such a date, you know, or discard it after this date. Wrestlers are the same way because people, I think the creative in WWE, he just said, what else can we do with him? What else?”

He continued, “Because he’s really, he’s an average talker. And he just got that great body, good guy, great guy. But if you keep the same wrestlers over and over and over, that are like, I don’t want to say mundane, but, you know, they become like a part of the furniture. They’re not going to draw you any money. They’re not going to draw you any interest, not going to sell any merchandise. So it’s time to go.” Well, it seems to be the case, since Lashley surely has a lot left in him. Something that he may utilize if he goes to All Elite Wrestling. He may be planning to leave the WWE, as apparently, he turned down a renewal offer from the WWE recently.

Have an interesting take?

Bobby Lashley’s future in WWE has been a key topic of interest in recent days. The All Mighty’s contract with the company ends very soon. PW Insider’s Mike Johnson has claimed that Bobby Lashley rejected a renewal offer from WWE, suggesting that it was not a great proposal. It seems that the fighter is studying the market and determining if he would make more money elsewhere.

In fact, both Bobby Lashley and MVP are speculated to be thinking of signing with All Elite Wrestling and recreating The Hurt Business, a group that was formed in WWE until the creative team inexplicably stopped betting on it. To add fuel to the fire on this idea, Cedric Alexander, WWE superstar and member of the original Hurt Business stable, has posted a photo of the group on his official X account. It is unknown if Cedric Alexander will end his contract with WWE soon. What do you think? Will Lashley join All Elite Wrestling? Let us know in the comments.
