“Biggest Box Office”: Billionaire Tony Khan Hopes to Sign WWE Legend Who Gave Dwayne Johnson a Tough Time

Dwayne Johnson has made a successful WWE career as ‘The Rock’. He had a series of great matches with Stone Cold Steve Austin. The beer-drinking legend always has a tough time with the current Hollywood actor in the ring. 

‘The Texas Rattlesnake’ was a megastar as an active in-ring competitor. Even today, the news of his return gets the arena full and makes the fans go crazy. Furthermore, out of three WrestleMania matches, Austin dominated two against Dwayne Johnson.

Recently, AEW owner, Tony Khan, appeared on The Mask Man Show podcast. He was asked which wrestler from history he would sign in the current AEW roster? Khan replied it will be none other than Stone Cold Steve Austin. The WWE Hall of Famer was his first choice out of all the legends.

Khan said, “I wish Steve Austin at any time in his career, you’d love to have Steve Austin in AEW. I think he’s the greatest of all-time. I’m a huge fan of many others.”

He added, “I think but if you put the gun to my head and I had to answer, I would probably say Steve Austin because he’s the biggest box office star in the history of the business and also one of the best workers, one of the greatest talkers, I think the greatest all-around package ever in this business is probably Steve Austin and when you look at the bottom line.”

Stone Cold ruled the attitude era, which helped Vince McMahon to defeat WCW in Monday Night Wars, also later purchasing it. Austin’s most famous matches came with The Rock, which is still most talked about among the fans. Austin made a home inside The Rock’s head and has more wins against him in WWE.

It is no doubt why Austin was the first choice of AEW owner, Tony Khan. Apart from ‘The Rattlesnake’, Khan chose Bret Hart, Ric Flair, and Macho Man Randy Savage for AEW. 

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is the Hollywood celebrity Stone Cold Steve Austin wants to face

Every wrestling fan will agree on the point that Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock had one of the best rivalries in WWE. They had the best in-ring chemistry, which made the fans go berserk. However, appearing on KiddNation, when asked which Hollywood celebrity will Austin like to face, his answer was The Rock.

Austin said, “As far as celebrity goes, I don’t know. What’s okay since The Rock is a celebrity I think it would be fun to get back in the ring with The Rock. But I’m not pitching a match, since you said celebrity, Rock’s the biggest movie star in the world.”

Austin claimed he had fun working with The Rock and they both respect each other’s careers. If this was a possible match in 2015, the WWE universe would have gone crazy. However, we never got to see The Rock vs Austin again, but Stone Cold came out of retirement for one match at WrestleMania 38 against Kevin Owens.
