AEW Dark airs every Tuesday on YouTube. Yesterday was the 48th episode of the up and coming wrestling show. For this episode, AEW had 13 matches lined up, which was a record for the show.
The matches were well booked. However, the ninth match of the night really caught audiences’ attention. The match was between Proud and Powerful (Santana & Ortiz) and The Metro Brothers (Chris and JC). The latter made their in-ring debut with the match.

Chris and Ortiz started things off but it was Santana who stole the show with his Eddie Gurrero inspired suplexes.
Santana got tagged midway during the match. After a kick to the spine, he hit Chris with Three Amigos (three back-to-back suplexes), a move popularized by the late WWE Hall Of Famer Eddie Guerrero.
Ultimately, Proud and Powerful were able to secure the victory. However, the Best Friends (Chuck Taylor and Trent) attacked the winners after the match. The two teams brawled all over the Daily’s Place.
After the event, Santana took to Twitter and acknowledged the tribute. He posted a gif with the caption “I’m your PAPI” (another phrase popularised by the late wrestler).

Is it…weird if, say, a guy gets a little misty-eyed when you do that move and the crowd chants “Eddie?”

It is definitely great to see the new generation of wrestlers paying homage to the legends.
From August 27, AEW will air its shows with a live audience. Owner Tony Khan has assured that the show is going to follow the necessary safety measures at all costs.
