Tony Khan can’t catch a break. Lately, AEW is struggling to keep its viewership on the right track, but things get even worse on the days when both companies’ shows collide head to head. AEW had to bear the brunt of criticism after WWE defeated AEW in devastating fashion during the Tuesday Night War on October 10.

Not only that, according to recent reports, the Stamford-based promotion is now dominating Saturday Night Wars too. As a result, WWE’s Premium Live Events are causing AEW Collision’s viewer numbers to decline.

Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics recently released data on AEW Collision’s viewership over the past few months. The data is in graph form, which provides information on how WWE’s PLEs (which take place on Saturdays every month) have affected the viewership numbers of AEW Collison (which also takes place on Saturday.)

Even the events (

Money in the Bank and Crown Jewel) that took place a day before Collision (due to the time zone difference) caused AEW’s Saturday show’s viewership to erode by considerable numbers, as shown in the line graph. The Collision episodes, which didn’t go head-to-head with WWE PLEs, got fairly decent numbers though.

This is not looking good for AEW as it seems as if the Jacksonville-based promotion has been struggling to keep its audience enticed for the past few months.

Empty seats at AEW Collision

An entire wrestling business is dependent on its audience. But it looks like Khan is slowly losing his viewer’s faith. Despite being a smaller portion than WWE, in the past few years, it had managed to gain momentum and beat WWE on many occasions in the numbers game.

But from the past few months, there has been no positive news from the Florida based promotion in ratings or viewership. Every post, every tweet, every story on the internet… has only pointed out how brutally WWE is beating its rival. Fans got an idea of the setback AEW faced when a wrestling fan uploaded a clip on X.

The video clip showed an almost empty arena from AEW Collision’s show at State College Arena, Pennsylvania. The last time AEW saw a suitable response from the wrestling universe was at ALL In in London, perhaps. After that, things have only gone downhill for the company when it comes to audience viewership.
