The tide can turn anytime in professional wrestling. For instance, IMPACT Wrestling has turned its fortunes since it started working with AEW. Now, they are taking even big strides; one of them is getting veteran commentator Mauro Ranallo to call their action.

Mama Mia! Mauro Ranallo is back!

IMPACT Wrestling announced earlier today that legendary play-by-play commentator Mauro Ranallo will join them at Rebellion on April 25. Ranallo will there especially for the Title vs Title match between Rich Swann and Kenny Omega.

Mauro Ranallo is no stranger to professional wrestling commentary. He was poplarly known as the ‘Voice of NXT,’ and has called some of the most memorable matches and moments in NXT History. In addition, Ranallo has also been a part of the SmackDown commentary team in the past.

NXT was the last pro wrestling show Mauro called as he parted ways with WWE and the black and gold brand in August 2020. His appearance at IMPACT’s PPV Rebellion will be the first in pro wrestling for him after a year.

Speaking about his return to pro wrestling, Ranallo said, “Swann vs Omega, champion vs champion, title vs title – this match represents everything I love about professional wrestling.”

A full-time return to calling pro-wrestling action?

Getting Mauro Ranallo for their PPV is a huge bonus for IMPACT Wrestling. Although this appearance on commentary is just a one-off, it could very well become a full-time contract in IMPACT  or even AEW!

If Mauro is interested to get back to calling pro wrestling action, then AEW would be the frontrunners to get him on board. Tony Khan’s promotion has some strong names on commentary, but we’re sure Excalibur can be moved to make way for Mauro Ranallo.

IMPACT Wrestling is another prospect, but would they be willing to shell out the cash for Mauro? If they can, it would be a very big addition to their broadcast team.

He and Matt Striker would sound good together, and make IMPACT Wrestling sound more interesting and fun to the casual viewer as well.
