The upcoming game by the Rocksteady Studios has kept gaming enthusiasts in its grip for months now. The game, titled Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League arrives on the back of the success of the Batman Arkham series. With the game releasing in February next year, a new piece of information dropped for pro wrestling fans months before the launch.
Former Ring of Honor and a top AEW star has played a key part in the game. The former AEW TNT Champion Samoa Joe voices one of the lead characters in the video game.

Ahead of the release of the game, Rocksteady Studios decided to upload a video on YouTube in the build-up to the release date. Dubbed the Suicide Squad Insider, the videos will explore the process of the game’s development. Along with that, it will also look into various voice artists involved with the project and their experiences as well. One such artist for the game is Samoa Joe. The AEW star is voicing the comic book character King Shark, who happens to be a human-shark hybrid.
Talking about the stakes in the game, he said, “You are talking about you know, the all-star team of superheroes here.” He then added,“ When you face off against the most iconic characters in all of the superherodom, the Justice League, it’s by many people’s definitions an impossible task.” The video game allows its players to play as the villains who face off against some powerful superheroes. The game follows the story of the Suicide Squad members, a group of villains who now work for the government.
The squad includes four members, King Shark, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and Harley Quinn. Together, they will take on a brainwashed Justice League who are being controlled by the villainous Brainiac.
While Samoa Joe’s inclusion in the game was unexpected, it was not surprising at all. There are a couple of pro wrestling stars who have made their appearances in non-wrestling games.
Pro wrestlers and video games
It has been a notion that a pro wrestler will only feature pro-wrestling-based video games. However, that is not always the case. One example is how fans totally missed a former WWE star in 2018’s critically acclaimed God of War. While fans were busy traversing the mystical and beautiful landscapes of Midgard, they missed the contribution of late WWE star Shad Gaspard. The star who had passed away in 2020 due to a swimming-related accident, had provided the motion capture for the character of Kratos in the game.

Ronda Rousey did not go quite far when it comes to video games. In the NetherRealm Studios’ 2019 game Mortal Kombat 11, Rousey was seen playing a rather familiar character. The former UFC star donned the character of the franchise’s favorite Soniya Blade. Rousey voiced the character in the 2019 installment and WWE was quite proud of it. For the 2019 Elimination Chamber, Rousey made an appearance in the Sonya Blade attire. This sparked a conversation amongst video game fans. Apart from these two, there have been plenty of others who have left their marks in various video games. Are you excited to see Samoa Joe in the upcoming Suicide Squad video game?
