Andrade made his debut on Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide as he challenged AAA Mega Champion Kenny Omega at AAA TripleMania. However, the former WWE superstar lost to Omega.

In the event, Andrade’s future father-in-law, Ric Flair, accompanied him to the ring and helped him as well. After the match, many fans and critics were both disappointed as it did not meet their expectations and Andrade’s claim of a “5+ star” match.

Renowned journalist Dave Meltzer put over Kenny Omega vs Christian Cage on the debut episode of AEW Rampage compared to Andrade’s match. After giving a heated reply to Melter, ‘La Sombra’ has finally justified his stance on Twitter.

He explained that although he was not too happy with the outcome of the match. But he was elated because he shared the ring with an icon like Ric Flair. Flair interrupted the match and gave chops to Omega, then he and Andrade both applied the figure four lock.

“I am not happy with the result of the match,” Andrade wrote. “But the most important thing and that I would not have imagined being in a ring with a great legend such as MR FLAIR and I feel happier because I have the luxury of putting figure 4 next to MR FLAIR. THANK YOU @RicFlairNatrBoy.”

Andrade was supposed to win the title from Kenny Omega

In the same podcast where Meltzer criticized Andrade, the former gave out some interesting information. Apparently, TripleMania was supposed to be Andrade’s big day, as he was going to end the reign of Kenny Omega as a AAA Mega Champion.

Primarily, for this reason, both Andrade’s fiance, Charlotte, and her father, Ric Flair, were at the event. Charlotte took a leave from WWE to be with Andrade.

However, those plans were scrapped at the last moment. AEW President Tony Khan allegedly stopped the title change, as Omega already lost to Christian Cage on AEW Ramage. AEW did not want him to lose two titles back-to-back.
