Martina Navratilova is the name that often comes up while discussing the most decorated players in tennis. The Czech-American was a force to reckon with in women’s tennis during her heyday. Post the women’s singles final of the US Open 2022, where Iga Swiatek managed to soar past Ons Jabeur; the 65-year-old was involved in a trophy presentation ceremony.

The renowned American journalist and ex-wife of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Maria Shriver, couldn’t control her happiness after watching Martina Navratilova present the trophy. So she took to social media to express her joy.

During the women’s singles trophy ceremony of the US Open 2022, Navratilova handed out the trophy to the winner, Iga Swiatek. After the ceremony, Maria Shriver tweeted her congratulations and expressed her delight in witnessing the 59-time major title victor handing out the trophy. “I also loved seeing @Martina give out the trophy. What a champion, I enjoyed watching her play. @iga_swiatek @USOpen,” she Tweeted.

Earlier, Iga Swiatek defeated Ons Jabeur 6-2 7-6(5) to win her maiden US Open singles title, second Grand Slam triumph of 2022, and third major overall. As a result of her Roland Garros win earlier this year, the 21-year-old became the first woman to win two Grand Slam singles titles in one season since Angelique Kerber in 2016.
