Athletes from one sport often support players and teams from another. American teenage sensation Coco Gauff similarly roots for the Miami Heat in the NBA and the Miami Dolphins in the NFL. While showing a keen interest in popular American sports, Gauff has never spoken much about her interest in soccer. However, with Lionel Messi‘s arrival in the United States, soccer’s popularity has gone off the charts.

Being a Miami local, it’s hard to look past a non-Miami sporting club for Gauff. With Lionel Messi’s addition to Inter Miami, Gauff does not need to look for any other club with the Argentine starring for her local club.

After guiding Inter Miami to the Leagues Cup triumph, Messi was set to make his MLS debut against New York Red Bulls. Despite playing only about 30 minutes, the 36-year-old made his mark with a majestic goal. Each time with his goals, Messi manages to lure new members to the Inter Miami fan club, and this time Coco Gauff is the latest addition to the masses!

Messi’s goal clip was released immediately. It was doing numbers on social media right away. When Gauff saw the clip, she couldn’t resist tweeting. She quoted the tweet and said, “Jumping on the Miami bandwagon 🌴🎯😏 “. Despite not being a regular football tweeter, Gauff jumped on the bandwagon.

Inter Miami has been on a roll ever since Messi’s arrival. The Argentine has changed the trajectory of the club as they continue to grow and prosper. In fact, they are looking to break all the MLS revenue records in the upcoming year.

Inter Miami looks to break the MLS record for revenue in 2024

The club owners and directors expected to see a revenue hike before Messi’s arrival. However, they weren’t quite aware of the scale. High ticket prices and growth in jersey sales have led to an unexpected surge in Inter Miami’s revenue. The club is now expecting to generate $200 million in revenue next year, which is more than three times the goal they had set prior to the Argentine’s arrival in the country.
