In the year 2019, Alexis Ohanian talked about how there is a massive opportunity in women’s sports. And he also mentioned that being so opportunistic towards women’s sports was the sole reason why he became the owner of NWSL, a 100$ million investment on his part. Owing to the same, he posted about it once again after Inter Miami claimed that their annual revenues had doubled in year one only because of Lionel Messi.
Weighing a male athlete’s name in perspective, Alexis Ohanian reaffirmed his point and added, “Now that a man has done it — hopefully, this ends the controversy around my thesis that athletes are creators + every owner has to treat them as such (this was the crux of my proclamation about the MASSIVE opportunity in women’s sports in 2019 when I started my quest to be an NWSL owner).
