In a recent update in the soccer world, Ohanian’s Angel City FC has made a massive leap with this new investment. It was a few years ago that Ohanian invested in women’s soccer, an investment frowned upon by many. They thought it to be a losing bet, but today, they are all proven wrong! Willow Bay and Bob Iger have acquired the majority stake in the team at the valuation of $250 million, making Angel City FC one of the most valuable teams out there! Three cheers for the father of the two and husband of the legend!

In a recent interview about this new collaboration, the new majority stakeholder had this to say, “We are thrilled to join this team as owners at this historic moment in sports. With this investment of resources and capital, we hope to accelerate the growth of the club and the NWSL. Working with the team and board, and the incredible community of ACFC fans, we are committed to advancing the club’s mission of driving equity on and off the field.”

However, valuation may have skyrocketed, but the team is yet to make a breakthrough. And show the haters how it is done. But it seems that good things take time, and better things take more time. And there is no stopping Ohanian as he takes larger strides in an unchartered territory with his latest venture, Athlos NYC!

Alexis Ohanian steps into the Athletics world with Athlos NYC

Who would have thought that marrying a tennis legend would open different doors for the tech specialist, the Reddit co-founder? However, that is in the past, as Ohanian expanded his family with Williams, he became more engrossed in women’s sports. And is out to do everything he can to uplift and ensure equal opportunities for the athletes. And the latest push in that direction came in the form of Athlos, NYC.

With Gabby Thomas and Faith Kipyegon joining the rush at New York, Ohanian had this to say, “We know that the American women in track are historically and unabashedly great. I can market greatness all day long. So why not create an event for these athletes? Imagine U.S. Open night match energy. Fans have got a few drinks in them, everybody’s having a good time, and it’s the largest purse in the history.”

The father of two daughters is certainly leading by example. As he wants to create the opportunities that he would do for his daughters. And the recent win would only boost his passion and efforts!
