Emma Raducanu returned home from the FIFA finals with a lot of inspiration. This time courtesy of the Argentina team’s aces and a virtuoso performance from Mbappe. Before participating in the first Grand Slam tournament of the year, the British tennis player mentioned one mutual athlete feeling that she shares with the soccer legends like Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe. But hold on, what was it that the former US Open champion find cool about them? 

Who is not a fan of soccer’s GOAT Lionel Messi? Or the rising soccer player, Kylian Mbappe? Both of whom together set up a tantalizing FIFA World Cup final.

Watching the soccer legends play the FIFA finals impressed Emma Raducanu

The 2021 US Open champion made admissions that she was highly impressed to see the soccer superstars perform their best. Even under the extreme pressure of the FIFA World Cup. The British tennis player, in a conversation with Eurosport, expressed her excitement at seeing the amazing soccer duo go head to head against each other, appreciating them for their excellent play.

She said, “I think watching it as an athlete you probably have a little bit of empathy as to what they’re feeling and what they’re thinking in those pressure situations and moments. To watch them go head-to-head was really cool. What Mbappe was able to do in that final was amazing. He was really pushing and carrying the team. I’m really happy for Messi because he just finished it off perfectly.”

The 20-year-old also learned to handle the pressure that comes with playing on an enormous stage and competing at a high level. Notably, the former US Open champion is making every effort to return to the tennis court. Also to demonstrate the lessons she has learned from the soccer field despite being injured.

Raducanu was confident leading up to the Australian Open
