Having a child can throw anyone into overdrive in planning for their future. Alexis Ohanian and Serena Williams aren’t any different. The business magnate started investing in his daughter’s future just after she turned two, making her the youngest owner of a professional sports team. Olympia was only two when a certain incident encouraged her parents to set aside a trust fund for their daughter. In a recent podcast, Ohanian shed light on the big plans for his daughter’s future and more.

Although Olympia is the youngest sports investor in the world, the 5-year-old has no idea about it, according to her father. However, it was Olympia who inspired her father to become the co-owner of Angel City FC.

Alexis Ohanian recently interviewed with the Bloomberg Businessweek podcast with host Carol Massar. In the podcast, the business magnate talked about how he started enjoying women’s sports, his investments, and more. He also discussed how he planned to invest in his daughter’s future.

Ohanian stated that he has set aside a trust fund for his daughter in order to make sure her future will be safe. “I set aside a few bucks to personally invest; I mean, it was via her trust. She doesn’t know this by the way, so she’s not listening to the podcast,” he said.

In the podcast, Ohanian also talked about the particular incident that inspired him to invest in women’s soccer. He stated that the family was watching the 2019 women’s world cup final and saw his daughter running around in the jersey of Alex Morgan, the American soccer player. As he saw her, he turned to Serena Williams and said that he would love it if their daughter went on to play for the USWNT (US Women’s National Soccer Team).

To that, Williams gave a serious reply. She said that only if she is paid what she’s worth, she will support the idea. As the world of soccer and sports in general is moving towards bridging the gender pay gap, it won’t be surprising if Olympia goes on to represent the USWNT in the future.
