Which tennis player would stand as high as the skyscraper is Coco Gauff’s way to the Olympic Gold? There are a few names from this year’s Roland Garros, that might turn out to be a strong contender, but Iga Swiatek takes the top position. After winning 4 Grand Slams on the clay courts of Paris. Dubbed the female version of Rafael Nadal, the Pole is the one to be wary of when it comes to winning the titles on the clay. And Serena Williams’ coach, Rick Macci, also thinks that way!

In an exclusive interview with EssentiallySports, Macci was asked about the chances of American women’s tennis players winning gold in Paris. There are always some chances to get through the toughest ones. However, when it comes to Swiatek on clay, Williams’ childhood coach said, “Everybody else is, I don’t wanna say pretender. But Iga is the real contender.” Such strong words certainly would mean only one thing. It’s World No.1’s court in Paris, and if you want to claim the chance, she is waiting for you!

What makes Swiatek dangerous on the Clay court? Macci has a few observations about the Pole’s game, as he told us exclusively, “Because her grip on the forehand is extreme, she needs a little more time. That’s why she has stumbled a little bit on the grass, the ball squirts through the court and her contact point is a little late.” The few seconds or milliseconds taken by the ball on the clay court work in favor of World No.1. Whereas when it comes to the grass court, the ball travels faster, hence the glass slam proves to be a bit tougher for Swaitek.

It seems that Swiatek’s game was meant for the clay court domination. The last 5 years have been a testament to that fact, as she won 4 out of her total 5 Grand Slam collections on the clay court. Therefore, when she steps on clay, she has a target on her back. She is not unbeatable. But the players are yet to rise above her level to take that crown from her.

Macci further praised Swiatek, “She is mentally at best, and on clay is she beatable? Yes, but you gonna beat her, she’s not gonna beat herself.” Moreover, the celebrated coach has someone in his mind who can hurt Swiatek on clay, and it’s not Gauff!

Danimal is set to retire soon. However, according to Macci, she is the chosen one to shake Swiatek’s throne at the Clay court. He told EssentiallySports in an exclusive interview, “She has the firepower. You know she can hurt you, and those are the people that can hurt Iga even on clay.” And the Special recipe, according to Macci, is, “You gotta be able to hurt her and you got to be having fun, the best day of your life swinging free and just going for it. And Collins has that type of game okay, even on clay.”

Coco Gauff may not be the one chosen by Rick Macci, but now the secret ingredient is out. She knows how to take down the ‘Queen of Clay!’
